where (it) was found
I like this expression. Directly translated it seems to be “where one was found” or “where it was found”. Yet, in practice it is typically “where …x… is located.” It’s an interesting expression for me and one I wanted to highlight. It’s subjunctive in tense, I believe, yet I expect there’s some rule around the verb “trouver” that makes this expression happen.
It’s interesting to me that in this episode of the podcast she speaks predominantly in the past tense of this story. Meanwhile, in this episode of Paris o’clock (another great podcast for beginners), despite the story being from 100+ years ago, the speakers uses present tense. It seems French has some leaniency about tenses, if, as in English, you stick to them. It’s helpful to see more past tense in this episode. How are you finding it?
If you’re just joining us as a beginner, I recommend you start with the first episode of Balades and work forward. Follow along daily for new clips.
How did you find today’s clip compared to yesterday’s clip? This short clip is still quite quick. I tend to be more comfortable when the clip is around 150wpm, but your level most likely is different.
Even with these faster clips, Balades continues to be an excellent podcast for learning French. One of the best for A1-A2 learners of French! What do you think? Join us for the next quiz.

Justement, il y avait une ligne de bus directe qui s’arrêtait en bas de l’immeuble où se trouvait notre location.
Precisely, there was a direct bus line that stopped at the bottom of the building where our rental was located.
