We are hexagonal
I found this ad on Youtube and wanted to share it. It’s like spoken word set to train track beat talking about the French. An interesting take as a learner looking to dive into the culture.
I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I learned France is called the hexagon and “French” is “hexagonal”. Something about this is just so wonderful to me.
I’m so used to countries, things, and people being called their name. And yet, here the French call themselves Hexagonal. I love it. It’s just so perfect, and it feels like this highly secretive common fact about France. Anyone in France knows they’re called hexagonal, but people outside of France might not know it. It’s just so special, and I’m glad I know it. And now hopefully, you know it too.
