Not less but not more either.

Just when I think I’m getting a grip on negatives, I run into an expression like this. Pas plus non plus. I’m not sure I’ve come across it before, and wanted to highlight it here.

Not only that, there are some other expressions or idioms in this snippet that deepl has interesting translations for. For instance, “à priori comme ça” deepl says “at first sight”. Lingue translates à priori as “a priori”. Not sure that’s very helpful…

I love how this podcast, although fast, is pretty colloquial. It feels like I’m overhearing a conversation at the table next to me at a happy hour. It’s a bit slower than yesterday’s quiz.

Alors, à priori comme ça on est tenté de répondre: et bien la durée la plus longue possible. Mais vous allez voir c’est faux ! Plusieurs études ont été réalisées sur le sujet et sont toutes parvenues à la même conclusion: la durée idéale est de 8 à 11 jours. Pas moins mais pas plus non plus.

So, at first sight, we are tempted to answer: well, the longest possible duration. But you will see that this is not true! Several studies have been done on the subject and they all came to the same conclusion: the ideal duration is 8 to 11 days. Not less but not more either.
